Early run of quarterbacks in draft should benefit Packers

GREEN BAY — Just because the Green Bay Packers aren’t in the market for a quarterback during the 2018 NFL draft — not in the first round, anyway — doesn’t mean the number of signal-callers set to go early won’t help them.

While it’s impossible to imagine the Packers using the 14th overall pick on a quarterback with 34-year-old Aaron Rodgers still in his prime — and intending to play beyond age 40 — the fact that USC’s Sam Darnold, UCLA’s Josh Rosen, Wyoming’s Josh Allen, Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield and Louisville’s Lamar Jackson could all go in the first round should improve the Packers’ options when they go on the clock.
