Draft breakdown: Taking a wide receiver could still make sense for the Saints

Editor's note: The New Orleans Saints could justify drafting a player at nearly every position. In the days leading up to the draft, the Advocate will evaluate each of those positions and make a case for and against taking a player at each spot early in the draft.

The case for selecting a wide receiver

The lack of receiving options in the offense played a role in New Orleans struggling to convert third downs, which is why adding weapons has been a priority this offseason.

The team brought in tight end Ben Watson and wide receiver Cameron Meredith, who both should prove to be important additions assuming they find ways to overcome time (Watson) and health (Meredith).
