DICKSON: New BYU offense shows promise in opener

Defense is gonna defense, but you were really waiting to see the offense, weren’t you?

BYU’s opener at Arizona on Saturday was a late-night gig due to television (it’s OK, ESPN, we still love you) so Cougar fans had to sit through an entire day of football to get a look at the Jeff Grimes offense.

Some good, some bad.

The Cougars managed just 135 total yards in the first half — 72 through the air and 63 on the ground. BYU had just one three-and-out series and picked up seven first downs, though it was only 1-of-5 on third downs.
