Incoming Gonzaga Bulldogs freshman and the No. 1 ranked recruit in the Class of 2021 Chet Holmgren won the 2020-21 Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year Award today. He was surprised by his former teammate, and former Gonzaga star, Jalen Suggs with the award.
Holmgren helped lead his Minnehaha Academy Redhawks to a 20-1 record and a state championship. He averaged 20.8 points, 12.6 rebounds, 4.7 blocks, and 4.4 assists per game while shooting an absurd 68.2 percent from the floor. Over the course of his high school career, Holmgren totaled 1,567 points, 964 rebounds, and 456 blocked shots.
