Carolina Panthers' Thomas Davis tests positive for banned substance, headed for 4-game ban

Carolina Panthers three-time Pro Bowl LB and 2014 Walter Payton Man of the Year Thomas Davis announced on Twitter Friday that he tested positive for a banned substance and will be suspended for four games.

That means Davis will begin his 14th and final NFL campaign on the suspension list.

"I was informed that I tested positive for a banned substance," the 35-year-old Davis said on Twitter. "I was completely caught off guard by this. I've never in any way done anything to try to intentionally cheat the game. It's one of those situations where the NFL rules are clear.
