Byrd carted off field at Wake Forest’s second practice

Wake Forest’s second spring football practice took on a different mood because of the one thing nobody wants to see.

Arkeem Byrd suffered an undisclosed knee injury and was carted off the field, taken to an area hospital for further evaluation. No official diagnosis was available, though Byrd was loaded into an ambulance with his right leg in a cast. This was his first practice of the spring, since he missed Monday’s opener because of a “family situation,” Coach Dave Clawson said.

This was Byrd’s first action at cornerback, having moved there from running back since the end of last season.
