GREEN BAY – Whether he ended up picking the right guys, only time will tell. But as Brian Gutekunst looked back on his first NFL draft as Green Bay Packers general manager and what could have been a whirlwind three days -- but really wasn’t, because he did all the work ahead of time to prevent that -- he felt good about everything he did.
Except, maybe, for a few fumbled handoffs to the head coach.
“I thought he did good. I thought he did real good,” Packers coach Mike McCarthy -- in the room for his 13th draft, but first without Ted Thompson in charge -- replied when asked how the new guy had fared.
