BGSU assistant football coach leaves for Packers

Ryan Downard, safeties coach for the Bowling Green Falcons, has left the program for a position with the Green Bay Packers, the university announced Monday morning.

Downard spent the last two season with the Falcons. He was the director of operations for the 2016 season.

Prior to coming to Bowling Green, Downard spent two seasons as a defensive assistant with the Cleveland Browns.

The move leaves three openings on head coach Mike Jinks' coaching staff. Cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens left for Kent State in December. He has since moved on to his alma mater, Cincinnati.
