Baseball: Gonzaga’s season ends by way of Bruins’ bats

In Gonzaga’s second straight day of loser-out baseball at the NCAA Minneapolis regional, the Zags matched up against a familiar foe in the UCLA Bruins, the team who bested GU on Friday.

After a 3-2 loss on Saturday evening to Minnesota, UCLA (37-20, 19-11 PAC-12) was knocked into the loser's bracket where GU (33-23, 19-11 West Coast Conference) awaited after its victory over Canisius.

With their season on the line, the Zags sent sophomore Mac Lardner to the hill.

Lardner struck out seven UCLA hitters while on the bump, but also fell victim to the second-seeded Bruins' potent bats as he allowed nine hits and five runs during his 6 1/3 innings.
