The Gonzaga University women’s basketball team went on the road to begin the 2025-26 campaign, defeating North Dakota State 81-66 thanks to a balanced offensive attack and efficient shooting from beyond the arc.
Allie Turner led the way with 18 points while Lauren Whittaker (13 points, nine rebounds) and Zeryhia Aokuso (14 points) both shined in their GU debuts. The Zags shot 67% from 3-point range as a team, which would have been the highest mark for last season.
“It was a great first game,” GU head coach Lisa Fortier said. “Most teams have played a game, and just the way our schedule worked out, this was our first one, so there were a little bit of nerves and the first time we were in front of a crowd who weren’t for us.
