Alabama football: Thompson assumes leadership role in Tide's depleted secondary

Alabama coach Nick Saban described it as the whole-part-whole approach.

“You kind of throw a bucket of whatever you want to call it up against the wall and see what sticks,” he said. “Then fill the bucket again and throw it up against it again. Eventually it all sticks.”

Quite the visual, but that’s how Saban is handling the secondary this spring. It’s also how, he claims, he handles it every year. Doesn’t matter how much turnover Alabama faced in the offseason.

The Crimson Tide bid farewell to its entire starting secondary. Minkah Fitzpatrick and Ronnie Harrison ended their careers early to pursue the NFL.
