A check-in with Zag baseball alums in the MLB: Where are they now?

Reaching the highest level in any sport is a supreme achievement. However, Major League Baseball has a compelling argument as the hardest sport in terms of actually making it to the show.

According to BaseballAmerica.com, only 17.9% of all MLB draftees who were signed made it to the big leagues from 1981-2010. There were 615 players drafted in the 2025 MLB draft, and only 26 players are active on a major league roster at any given time. Using the phrase “uphill battle” is an understatement when talking about reaching the baseball mountaintop.

Nonetheless, Gonzaga University baseball’s recent eruption on the national stage has been the catalyst for its athletes to shine in the summer heat.
