"I think this means a lot to [Goodwin]," director of cross country Pat Tyson said. "He's a guy who transferred from [University of Washington] ... It's taken him three years [at GU] to finally start putting everything together."
Just behind Goodwin were sophomore Jake Perrin and redshirt junior Kyle Thompson, running 24:34.2 and 24:34.9, respectively.
Goodwin and Thompson, both transfers, have experienced their fair share of inconsistencies during their time at GU thus far, according to Tyson. For a team with lofty goals, their performances on Saturday provide the Zags with another element of depth -- something Tyson believes will be crucial to the team's success this season.
