World Amateur Golf Ranking announces big changes

Earlier this month, the World Amateur Golf Ranking issued a release on recent changes to its ranking.

The changes, which included the move from a one-year to two-year ranking, went into effect on Jan. 1.

Here are some of the notables changes:

  • Gradual switch to a two-year ranking, which will grow one week at a time.
  • Minimum divisor, or counting rounds, previously 28, will increase by 0.5 rounds each week until it reaches 54.
  • The NCAA Men's Division I Championship will become an elite category event.
  • Maximum RSS (Ranked Scratch Score, or average score of WAGR-ranked players) is par+6.
