Wentworth Golf Club members have rejected modifications to the club’s membership scheme announced today.

The club released a press release outlining “final enhancements and improvements to its new membership structure, which will take effect from April 1 next year.”

The crux of the enhancements is allowing members to spread the cost of the £100,000 (approx. $143,000). Previously members had to pay the entire debenture up front by March 2017 if they wished to remain members of the club. Under the new scheme, members can opt to pay “a non-refundable deposit of £20,000 (approx. $29,000) towards their debenture and membership, with the balance deferred to and payable by December 31, 2019.
