VIDEO: Malnati gives priceless reaction after failed water shot

Plainfield Country Club frustrated and puzzled many golfers, but birdies were there for the taking in the opening round of The Barclays, with 10 golfers shooting rounds of 4-under 66 or better.

Bubba Watson, Spencer Levin, Camilo Villegas and Tony Finau lead the way through Round 1 after firing 65.

Finau, a rookie on Tour who is 39th in the FedEx Cup standings, made eight birdies and three bogeys en route to grabbing a share of the lead. The big hitter's average driving distance was 336 yards, and it's no surprise judging by his philosophy.

"A lot of the fairways are hard to hit no matter what club you hit, so I figured if I'm going to be in the rough, I may as well be further up," said Finau.
