USGA reveals list of 111 U.S. Open local qualifying sites

The U.S. Golf Association has announced its local qualifying sites for the 2016 U.S. Open Championship, to be played at Oakmont (Pa.) Country Club. Local qualifying consists of 18 holes, and the USGA will stage 111 such qualifiers in 43 states. They will take place May 2-19, and players who advance from locals earn a spot in one of 10 sectional-qualifying sites around the U.S.

“The skills and support provided by state and regional golf associations in conducting U.S. Open local qualifying is immeasurable, and we appreciate their continued commitment,” said Stuart Francis, USGA Championship Committee chairman, in a release.
