Two father-son duos may compete in Sony Open in Hawaii

HONOLULU — Long shot that it is, there’s the possibility of two father-son entries into this week’s Sony Open in Hawaii.

All depending on how the Monday qualifier goes, of course.

Presently, Fred Funk is exempt into the field, and he’ll be teeing it up at Waialae CC for the 23rd time. When his son Taylor got through a pre-qualifier Sunday, it put him into Monday’s qualifier at Hoakalei CC in Ewa Beach and set up the possibility of two Funks in the field.

The other possibility is the Brownes. Olin, a three-time winner on the PGA Tour, is playing in the Monday qualifier and so, too, is his son, Olin Jr.
