Tiger Woods is set to receive one of the most prestigious awards in golf.
Woods was bestowed the Bob Jones Award from the USGA for his "commitment to sportsmanship and respect for golf's traditions." It is the highest honor awarded by the USGA and CEO Mike Whan said it was due to more than just his tremendous play on the course.
"This award goes beyond playing performance, recognizing the lasting impact of one person's journey that has forever changed the image and growth of golf," Whan said, per ESPN. "There are very few who stand alongside Tiger Woods in terms of on-course accomplishments, and he is in a class of his own when it comes to the impact he has made on the game and future generations who will play it.
