Tiger Woods talks about career resurrection despite being longshot at St. Andrews

Editor's note: This story will be updated...

Tiger Woods opened the British Open early Tuesday morning (at least on the East Coast) with the day's first press conference at St. Andrews. The focus of the interview suggests, perhaps, that his game is in better shape than at times earlier this year. The focus was on the storied course and Woods' experience here rather than on his golf game.

Woods spoke mostly of course knowledge, past experiences and the importance of playing for the wind at St. Andrews.

"I've always loved this golf course, from the first time I played it in 1995," he said, acknowledging that it feels softer this year than in past years.
