This year’s majors serve as showcase for classical architectural principles

The dead architects are alive and well – at least if we use the 2016 championship calendar as a barometer.

This is a showcase year for classical architecture. Fourteen of the top 100 Golfweek’s Best Classic Courses will be featured as host layouts this year. That’s not some charitable act of respect for elders by the U.S. Golf Association, the PGA of America and the PGA Tour. These are courses with serious staying power.
