DESTIN, Fla. — Laura Lindsey won her first event at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort’s Baytowne Golf Club, and as she stood over her approach shot at the 18th green Tuesday, she had every intention of winning her final event there.
“I told coach ‘I want to make a birdie here and finish strong,’ ” said Lindsey, a senior at Texas-Tyler. And as she sent her approach flying, the southern twang in her voice cut through the air. “Bite.”
It did, leaving Lindsey with 8 feet for birdie.
