RIO DE JANEIRO – While many of the top players at the Olympics floundered in mediocrity, Henrik Stenson continued to do what Henrik Stenson does.

In the last group, the big Swede battled the windiest of the day’s conditions to cruise to a 5-under 66 at the Olympic Golf Course. He’s tied for second place with Canadian Graham DeLaet. They’re three shots behind surprise Aussie leader Marcus Fraser.

It’s the fourth time in the last five starts that Stenson has opened with a round in the 60s.

“Hopefully confidence doesn’t wear off that easily,” Stenson said.
