IRVING, Texas – With something less than his “A” game this week at the AT&T Byron Nelson, Jordan Spieth still found himself in a familiar position atop a leaderboard thanks to a familiar weapon.
Spieth’s putter has heated up following last week’s missed cut at The Players, with the world No. 2 rolling in birdie putts of 21 feet at No. 14, 35 feet at No. 17 and 11 feet at the 18th hole for a second-round 65 and an 11 under total.
“When I stand over my putter right now it's back to where we like to have it,” said Spieth, who did three-putt the 13th hole for the second consecutive day for his lone bogey.
