Spieth-Reed get crucial point in 'unplayable' darkness

INCHEON, South Korea – Some 20 minutes after sunset, and at least 10 minutes after play should have been stopped, Jordan Spieth put the finishing touches on a perfect day with a 3-and-2 victory over Jason Day and Charl Schwartzel.

Not that many people saw Spieth’s two-putt par on the 16th hole in near darkness.

“It was extremely dark. I would call it unplayable,” Spieth said.

A hole earlier, Spieth, who was paired with Patrick Reed, missed a 16-footer for birdie that would have ended the match and he expected play to be halted because of darkness and an early restart on Sunday.
