It may only be June, but 6-year-old Ryan McGuire has already locked up the feel-good golf story of the year.

On June 17th, McGuire, from the Boston suburb of Foxborough, will attempt a 100-hole marathon day of golf in honor of his friend who recently passed away from rare form of pediatric cancer called DIPG.

Danny Nickerson, 5, died in April after an 18-month battle with the disease. Now McGuire, who described Nickerson to WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Lana Jones, as a "really nice friend" and someone he "liked to play and read books with," is hoping to save others affected by the disease from a similar fate.
