SPRINGFIELD, N.J. – Defending champion Jason Day finally arrived at the PGA Championship late Tuesday in time for the Champions’ Dinner. He served a mixed salad, ribeye steak and chocolate molten lava cake. But as Day explained at his Wednesday morning news conference at Baltusrol Country Club, he was battling a cold, “running on E” and hadn’t seen the course yet.
“I don’t know what it looks like,” he said. “The prep has been a little on the light side.”
The late arrival was an uncharacteristic move by the World No. 1, who makes a habit of showing up on the Friday before a major to do his homework.
