SAN MARTIN, Calif. – A tear fell down the cheek of 2011 U.S. Women’s Open champion So Yeon Ryu as she talked about her golf hero, Se Ri Pak, playing her last round on American soil. Ryu and 2012 Women’s Open champion Na Yeon Choi played alongside Pak for her final stroll at CordeValle.

“You never really think your idols are going to be like… gone,” said Ryu. “If you think of Superman or Iron Man, you think they’re going to be forever really strong.”

Ryu, however, could see Pak struggle with her shoulder as she competed in this championship for the 19th time.
