RIO DE JANEIRO – Justin Rose took a swipe from 189 yards on the par-3 fourth hole Thursday at the Olympics. After a couple small bounces and a short roll the ball found the bottom of the cup and Rose recorded the first ace in the Rio Games.

Rose, playing for Great Britain this week, is playing in the day’s penultimate group with American Rickie Fowler and Jhonattan Vegas, who is representing Venezuela.

Rose was 1 under at the time so he jumped to 3 under after the ace, then promptly birdied the par-5 fifth hole to get to 4 under.
