Rory especially satisfied to beat Mickelson

CHASKA, Minn. – Rory McIlroy said there was special satisfaction getting a victory against Phil Mickelson in a morning foursomes match Saturday at the Ryder Cup.

McIlroy and Thomas Pieters teamed to defeat Mickelson and Rickie Fowler, 4 and 2.

McIlroy was 0-3 against Mickelson in Ryder Cup matches going into the match.

“Yeah, when I saw the draw last night, I said, 'Yes, I get to have a go at him again,'” McIlroy said. “Because my record against him in the Ryder Cup wasn’t what I wanted it to be.
