Australian Anthony Quayle is in the mix with a bunch of players from the Southeast after one round of the Palmetto Amateur in Aiken, S.C. Quayle, from the Gold Coast, opened with a 5-under 65 at the Palmetto Golf Club and is tied for first with David Kocher of Charlotte, N.C.
Quayle eagled the par-3 10th and added three other birdies and a bogey on Wednesday. Kocher opened with three consecutive birdies, then made one more at No. 9 to turn in 30. His only bogey of the day came at No. 16.
Austin Langdale, a Clemson sophomore from Townville, S.
