Paul Broadhurst outlasts Miguel Angel Jimenez to win Senior British Open

Paul Broadhurst never really came close to winning a major championship in his regular European Tour. He wasted no time in bagging his first senior major.

The 50-year-old Englishman won the British Senior Open at Carnoustie on his tournament debut.

“It’s incredible, absolutely incredible,” he said. “These sort of things don’t seem to happen to me. I’ve been a bridesmaid for most of this year.”

The man from Nuneaton, England, finally got over the winning line after two second place finishes this year in the Wales Senior Open and WINSTONgolf Senior Open. He looked to be playing for another runner-up in this championship when he began the final round four shots behind Spain’s Miguel Angel Jimenez.
