SAN DIEGO — Late in the Web.com Tour season, Rob Oppenheim seemed inside the circle to earn his 2015-16 PGA Tour card, only to fall out.
Then at the Web.com Tour Final, Oppenheim appeared outside the line, only to sneak inside with the most unforeseen set of circumstances.
A roller-coaster of emotions, to be sure, but Oppenheim had learned to survive the turbulence of this uncertain pro golf world and remain focused on his goal. When he earned the 50th and final card at the Web.com Tour Final, the young man from just north of Boston accepted the reality of his situation: He would be a rookie with the thinnest of status, and opportunities likely wouldn’t come around often, so best be prepared.
