Now a pro, Cheng-Tsung Pan medals at U.S. Open sectional in Washington

There is something incredibly special about qualifying for the U.S. Open when the championship will be played almost in your own backyard, in front of family and friends who have known you throughout your golf career.

The U.S. Open sectional qualifier here at Tumble Creek Club turned into a showcase of local talent, led by University of Washington star Cheng-Tsung Pan, who finished second in the recent NCAA Championship.

"Magic," Pan said over and over. "It was magic. I knew I had to do something, and I birdied three of the last four holes.
