PORTLAND, Ore. – How did Hannah Green react to having a World Golf Hall of Famer in her gallery? She shot under par, of course.
Karrie Webb, playing at the LPGA event roughly 35 minutes down the road, came out to Portland Golf Club to watch Green compete Tuesday in the second round of stroke-play qualifying at the U.S. Women's Amateur. Green impressed the Aussie legend, playing the last seven holes in 2 under.
“Very technically sound,” said Webb of the 18-year-old’s swing. “She didn’t miss a green while I watched.”
Green and Julienne Soo are this year’s winners of the Karrie Webb Scholarship, which gives them the priceless opportunity of staying with Webb during the week of the U.
