Mid-ams Smith, White win inaugural USGA Four-Ball

Mid-amateur standouts Nathan Smith and Todd White routed the team of Sherrill Britt and Greg Earnhardt, 7 and 5, to capture the inaugural U.S. Amateur Four-Ball title at the Olympic Club in San Francisco.

Smith and Walker were both on the victorious 2013 Walker Cup team, and the veterans combined for 47 USGA championship appearances prior to this week's event. After an upset of the No. 2-seeded team in the semifinals, the duo cruised to victory in the finals after winning each of the match's first four holes.

This is Smith's fifth USGA title, as the 36-year-old investment adviser has won the U.
