Matt Jones plays from hospitality tent at PGA Championship

MOSEL, Wis. – Matt Jones had his hands full on Saturday at Whistling Straits, where he teed off late afternoon as the tournament’s midway leader at the 97th PGA Championship.

So what on earth was he doing in the middle of the beer pavilion along the left side of the par-4 ninth hole?

Well, he’d intended to hit a cut and double-crossed a driver off the ninth tee, sending it wildly left. Leading the tournament at 13 under par at the time, his Titleist ball came to rest alongside a flat walkway in the concessions area, not far from a row of bar stools that patrons had to temporarily vacate to allow Jones to play through.
