GRANITEVILLE, S.C. — Viraj Madappa looked back at the leaderboard after his second round Friday at Sage Valley and saw his name at the top.
Madappa, a 17-year-old from India, has made just four starts in the U.S., but he was more than comfortable Friday, carding a 5-under 67 to take a two-shot lead at 6 under.
"I knew that a good round was coming," Madappa said. "Throughout the round, I wasn't worried about what the guys behind me were doing. I just did my own thing and holed quite a lot of putts. … It was pretty exciting to see my name on top of the leaderbord.
