Following an opening-round 67, Lipscomb's Dawson Armstrong went even lower on Wednesday, firing a second-day 66 to shoot out to 11-under and a two-shot lead through 36 holes at the 113th Western Amateur.
On a benign scoring day at Rich Harvest Farms, Armstrong took advantage, posting seven birdies versus one bogey en route to 6 under. While the first-round co-leader didn't come into the week performing at his best, he went bogey-free over the first 18 holes and has just one square on the card through 36.
“I wasn’t playing great before this week. I was going through some swing changes the past two weeks,” Armstrong said.
