Kaymer, Fowler among big names headed home from US Open (The Associated Press)

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. (AP) -- Martin Kaymer's run as the reigning U.S. Open champion is over, sealed with a triple bogey.

Kaymer missed the cut Friday when the second round of the U.S. Open concluded. Kaymer shot 74, but it was a triple bogey he took on the 10th hole that left him trying to catch up on the back nine. Kaymer missed right of the green from the fairway and could never overcome the mistake.

He had plenty of big-name company. Rickie Fowler, Bubba Watson, Hunter Mahan, Graeme McDowell, Ryan Moore and Tiger Woods were all gone before the weekend.
