As January weekends go, this past one was pretty close to fabulous for golf fans. They could wake up to Rickie and Rory and Jordan from Abu Dhabi in the mornings, then drop in on Phil and a respectable field in the California desert in the afternoons.
For all of that, however, it was a little moment in Hawaii that caught my attention and made me set down the TV remote, at least for a few minutes. The PGA Tour Champions’ Mitsubishi Electric Championship came down to the final hole, with Duffy Waldorf and Tom Lehman hoping for a walk-off birdie.
