It’s no accident that McIlroy, world’s top golfers gain rewards for their risks

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland – If indeed, as he said, Rory McIlroy sprained his ankle playing soccer, and if you’re of the opinion that he shouldn’t partake in such dangerous activities, especially with the defense of his British Open on the doorstep, then it stands to reason that you’d suggest a safer use of his time.

Bagpipes, perhaps.

Or simply changing a spotlight at home.

Oops. Scratch those ideas. There’s documented history of NHL goaltender Glenn Healy being sidelined after slicing his hand while trying to remove the bag from an old, World War I bagpipe. And eight-time PGA Tour winner Brad Faxon missed a chunk of playing time one season after falling from a ladder while changing a spotlight at his home.
