Henrik Stenson overcomes flu to take share of Nedbank Challenge lead

Beware of the sick golfer.

Henrik Stenson, who spent much of the week in bed with the flu, opened the Nedbank Golf Challenge with a 6-under 66 Thursday at Gary Player Country Club to grab a share of the first-round lead with South Africa's Jaco Van Zyl.

“I’ve been in bed with the flu for three days, and after I had to pull out of the pro-am on Tuesday I probably had a 5-percent chance of playing," Stenson said. "I felt quite a bit better this morning and the doctor didn’t see any reason why I couldn’t play.
