Scores

LYTHAM ST. ANNES, England – American elder statesmen Scott Harvey and Mike McCoy held twice the experience of Irish opponents Paul Dunne and Gary Hurley, but the youngsters were the ones who held it together down the stretch.

Dunne and Hurley, both 22, rallied in the closing holes for a 1-up victory against Harvey, 37, and McCoy, 52, in Sunday morning foursomes at the Walker Cup at Royal Lytham & St. Annes.

Before the match, the result might have seemed preordained, with Dunne and Hurley having enjoyed tremendous success together in foursomes, plus Dunne’s emergence as the co-54-hole leader in the recent British Open.
