F. Molinari (wrist) WDs after 5-and-3 loss

AUSTIN, Texas – Francesco Molinari became the third player to withdraw from the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, pulling out following his 5-and-3 loss to Thongchai Jaidee on Thursday.

Molinari, who had also lost his first match of the week and would not have been able to advance to the round of 16, cited a wrist injury for his withdrawal.

Alex Noren, who is undefeated this week, was scheduled to play Molinari on Friday and the conceded match assures the Swede a spot in the round of 16, which begins on Saturday.

Jason Day withdrew on Wednesday to be at home with his mother, who was scheduled to undergo surgery on Friday, and Gary Woodland withdrew before his match on Thursday for a “family matter.
