Explosive device prompts evacuation of California golf course

A California golf course was evacuated Saturday morning after maintenance workers found a device that investigators determined to be a homemade explosive device.

Employees at Foxtail Golf Club in Rohnert Park, about 50 miles north of San Francisco, discovered a large water bottle that was rigged like an explosive device near the 18th fairway, the San Francisco Chronicle reported, citing local police. A similar device had been detonated nearby. No injuries were reported.

The California-Berkeley Police Department’s bomb squad was called to dispose of the device. After the course was evacuated, investigators determined the device to be an acid bomb.
