DJ maintains lead in tough conditions; Spieth 5 back

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland – A late start, howling winds and impending darkness couldn’t slow down Dustin Johnson.

He went out in 33 Friday and made only one mistake as he stayed one shot clear at the Open Championship.

Johnson is 10 under through 31 holes, one shot ahead of Englishman Danny Willett, who posted 9-under 135. Johnson was just short of the par-5 14th green in two shots when play was suspended because of darkness.

“I feel great,” he said. “I’m in a good spot. Definitely got tricky this afternoon, all day.
