DiMarco's son loses coin toss at U.S. Open qualifier

Christian DiMarco, son of three-time PGA Tour winner Chris DiMarco, lost out on an opportunity to advance to U.S. Open sectional qualifying after he apparently left his local qualifier on Wednesday.

The USF senior shot 72 to tie for the final qualifying spot with LSU's Luis Gagne, but when neither of them could be located on site at Orange Tree Golf Club in Orlando, Fla., a coin toss was left to determine who would advance.

The coin came up in favor of Gagne, leaving DiMarco as the first alternate.

Three-time LPGA winner and Orange Tree member Christina Kim brought the story to light via Twitter.
