Day (back) withdraws from API, unsure about Players

ORLANDO, Fla. – Jason Day withdrew six holes into his first round Thursday at the Arnold Palmer Invitational because of a back injury.

Day told GolfChannel.com that he practiced last week at TPC Sawgrass but woke up Sunday and "couldn't really walk." An MRI revealed an annular tear in his L4 and L5 vertebrae, though Day thought he could play through the injury at Bay Hill.

Day's status for The Players next week is uncertain.
