Nicolas Colsaerts has posted just one top-10 finish in a stroke-play event this year on the European Tour, but he ha no problems on Thursday.
The 32-year-old fired a 9-under 63 on Thursday at the Open d'Italia to take an early two-shot lead at the Golf Club Milano over Francesco Molinari, Shiv Kapur and Kristoffer Broberg.
"I have been playing quite well for a while and waiting for a round like this when it all comes together," said Colsaerts, who ranks 100th in the Race to Dubai standings. "Today it was great and it is nice to see the work you are doing paying off for a change.
